Book Launched To Remember Late UBD

Begawan – The Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) has launched a
book entitled 'Jejak-Jejak', a compilation of work papers written by
the late UBD Vice Chancellor, in appreciation of his good deeds.
Pehin Dato Haji Awang Abdul Aziz,
Minister of Education, launched the book which took place at UBD in
Berakas,.
At the function, the Education
Minister presented the book to family members of the late professor.
The late Dato Prof Dr Haji Mahmud
Saedon, former Vice Chancellor of UBD, was remembered as a leader and
one of the country's prominent figures in Islam. He had brought a lot
of changes in the development of UBD.
At the ceremony, Dr Haji Ismail, UBD
Vice Chancellor, said that the book was one of the many projects
conducted by the university.
Another project, which is still in
progress, is the production of 'Buku Sumbangsih', a reminisce of good
deeds of the late Vice Chancellor collected by the literature and
social science faculty.
He said that UBD will also produce a
book focusing on the activity and leadership aspect of the Al-Marhum
during his tenure as Vice Chancellor of UBD.
The book, Jejak-Jejak, is a
compilation of 18 working papers by the late vice chancellor.
All the papers were forwarded during
a seminar and academic gathering between Brunei and Malaysia.
The working papers included Islamic
regulations in the Malay Sultanate of Brunei up to year of 1959, the
development and administration of young generation and the use of
tithe.
Three of the 18 working papers dealt
with Islamic regulations in Brunei, Islamic education and dawah and
Islamic entrepreneurship.
The book went on sale yesterday at
the Chancellor Hall priced at $20 each for hard cover and $15 for
paperback.
Beginning today till January 15, any
member of the public, who wishes to purchase the books, can do so at
the Brunei Academic Education of UBD at 20 per cent discount.
The book will also be on sale in
