Sultan Bolkiah Vocational School
holds orientation week

New intakes of SBVS at the ceremony.
An orientation ceremony was held
yesterday morning for 83 new students in the 15th intake of Sultan
Bolkiah Vocational School (SBVS) in Seria.
They were encouraged to adopt
themselves with the school's physical and social environments as well
as with older students, which is partly the purpose of orientation
week.
Chief guest during the event was its
Principal, Cikgu Hj Abd Latif Awg Abu Bakar. In his speech, Cikgu Hj
Ramli Hj Mahmud the Deputy Principal, stated that vocational learning
is a form of skill training.
Results awarded by the Brunei
Darussalam Technical and Vocational Education will be beneficial for
future careers or for those who wish to pursue their education at the
levels of Pre-National Diploma, National Diploma, HND and degree.
He added that it offers a variety of
training skills in enabling students to gain knowledge and could also
assist those who are unfortunate in academic studies but have the
capability in technical field. Eight courses were offered to the new
intake this year.
Among them are NTC/2 in Welding and
Fabrication; NTC/2 in Dressmaking and Tailoring; NTC/3 in Motor
Vehicle Mechanic; NTC/3 in Vehicle Body Repair; NTC/3 in Refrigeration
and Air Conditioning; NTC/3 in Machining; NVC in Clerical Studies
(General Office Clerk); NVC in Clerical Studies in (Accounting Clerk).
All courses will take about one and a
half years to complete, which includes industry training in government
departments as well as local companies.
Meanwhile, the Principal stressed in
the speech he delivered that employment opportunities are still open
to vocational school graduates. "Skills also enable a person to
conduct their own business," he concluded at the event.
This ceremony then proceeded with a
reading of the school's oath and ended with a Doa.
