Women Highest Number Of Converts To Islam In Brunei

Tutong – The number of new converts to Islam last year was 546 in Brunei.

From the figure, Brunei-Muara District recorded the highest number with 284. Meanwhile adult females formed the highest number of converts in terms of gender.

Meanwhile, a conversion ceremony of a Dusun family of five was held yesterday.

Officers from the Islamic Dakwah Centre conducted the ceremony for Awang Selangkir Bin Yakin, 54, his wife, his son, his mother in-law and the sister of his mother in-law.

Awang Selangkir chose his Muslim name as Awang Abdul Rahim Bin Yakin.

Among the guest at the function were the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Force, Pehin Major General Dato Haji Awang Halbi, and the Director of Islamic Dakwah Centre, Dato Awang Haji Adam.
