Seameo
Voctech will be hosting some major events this year. The centre's
Director, Awg Noorhaizamdin bin Haji Mosbi, announced training
programmes and events that will be held this year to the management
committee, specialists and general services staff at an assembly last
Saturday.
He announced that training programmes
such as the regular, in country and customised courses within the
year, especially for Vocational and Technical Education Training (VTET)
institutions and other target clientele, would be pursued. He also
said that major events would soon take place.
These include the International
Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) certification of SEAMEO VOCTECH
that is envisioned to be achieved before the year end. Undertaking
quality system requirements will enable the centre to gain an
international standard organisation certification.
In this regard, he mentioned that a
Task Force Committee will map out necessary preparations and every
division will be involved in order to meet the requirements to attain
the certification. He added that the proposed certification was
highlighted through a resolution formulated during the 14th Governing
Board Meeting in Bali, Indonesia on October 9-11, 2003.
Another significant event will be the
hosting of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Council (SEAMEC)
conference from March 1-4. He reiterated that the centre would play an
essential role in assisting the Ministry of Education towards a
successful and smooth running of the conference.
Personnel and Administrative Manager,
Haji Ibrahim bin Haji Bagol, in support of proper implementation of
procedures also disclosed some administrative matters for the staff.
To further inculcate a wholesome
working atmosphere, the director encouraged an 'open door' policy
where all staff members are encouraged to share ideas and have regular
discussions. In the spirit of professionalism, he emphasised that
'whatever level' a staff member may belong to, he/she should
contribute significantly towards the success of the organisation.
