Scouts Association gathering for Unity Towards Excellence

The Scouts Association of Brunei Darussalam yesterday held a gathering at its Gadong headquarters in conjunction with Aidil Fitri and New Year celebrations, carrying the theme of "Unity Towards Excellence."

Among those present were Hj Zainal Abidin Penghulu Hj Ibrahim the Scouts Commissioner, Deputy Scouts Commissioners, Scouts Commissioners, primary and secondary school principals, supervisory teachers, scouts' leaders and members as well as their parents.

As co-chairperson, Awg Saifulrijal Hj Md Hussin made a welcoming speech in which he remarked that the ceremony was a follow-up to the previous year's and its objective was to unite all scout members in the Sultanate, fostering closer ties among them with a joyous occasion.

He said, "Although Hari Raya has passed, it is still celebrated in order to relive the spirit and this has been the case for two years now.

"There are other factors for holding this event. The Scouts Association has recently completed two workshops held in the first week of December 2003 called 'National Strategic Planning Workshop' and 'Development of Training System Workshop' that ran for two weeks."

Awg Saifulrijal then reflected on the changes and challenges facing today's scout members. Also lined up were performances by scout groups from each district.
