2004 Welcomes New Converts

Bandar Seri Begawan - A total of 24 new converts have arrived throughout the Sultanate alone since the beginning of this year.

Awg Armos bin Musim, 24, chose the Muslim name Awg Md Armos bin Ahdullah in a ceremony which took place at the Holiday Lodge, Kg Jetudong.

About 7 officers from the Pusat Dakwah Islamiah Centre attended the ceremony, which was led by Hj Abas bin Awg Hj Tuah.

Dato Awg Hj Mohd Yusra bin Hj Abdul Halim, Director of the Institute of Technology Brunei was the chief guest that evening.

Also present at the ceremony was Pg Hj Abdul Qahar bin Pg Sanggamara Diraja Major General (Rtd) Pg Hj lbnu Ba'asith.

Meanwhile, in another similar event which took place at Kg Sungai Besar at the residence of Awg Hj Baharuddin bin Hj Baha, a family of 3 Filipinos became new converts.

Regelio Sanson Yara, 33 chose the Muslim name of Muhammad Roja' Abdullah, while his wife Priscilla D. Jose, 45, chose her Muslim name as Nurshiela Abdullah, Rod.Jettrey Jose, their one year old son is now named Muhd Jeffrey Muhammad Roja. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
