244 More Haj Pilgrims Off To Mecca

Begawan – A total of 244 Hai pilgrims left for the holy city of
Mecca to perform the Haj yesterday.
The pilgrims were the first of four
groups under the management of the Darussalam Holding.
The Brunei International Airport was
again flooded by well-wishers who came in large numbers to wish the
pilgrims a safe journey.
The flight was the first of four
Darussalam Holding's chartered flights. It departed at about 10.45am.
Another three chartered flights are
scheduled for today, January 12 and 13, 2004.
Among the well-wishers was Pehin Dato
Dr Ustaz Haji Awang Mohd Zain, Minister of Religious Affairs.
The first group of 249 Brunei’s Hai
pilgrims left the country last Wednesday.
The return flights for all Brunei’s
pilgrims are expected to arrive in Brunei on February 8 and 11, 2004.
Meanwhile, for the convenience and
comfort of passengers, Royal Brunei Airlines has arranged a special
advance check-in service. Baggage check-in counters for the Haj
pilgrims is also open from 7pm until 9pm on the day before their
scheduled flight.
Each pilgrim is also given an
additional 10-kilogram baggage allowance and upon their return, the
carriage of up to five litres of zam-zam water.
The aircraft carrying the intending
pilgrims took off to the sound of the call for prayer or 'azan'.
