MOD holds doa selamat for pilgrims
By Azaraimy HH

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) yesterday held a Doa Selamat for its officers and staffs who will be going for the haj pilgrimage this year. The ceremony is an annual programme for their staffs who are going to perform the haj.

Prayers were said for the pilgrims to have a safe and peaceful journey during their pilgrimage.

During the ceremony, the intending pilgrims were presented donations in hopes that it would help ease any problems that should arise when they perform the haj in the Holy Land.

The Doa Selamat was held yesterday at the Bolkiah Garrison Surau and was attended by the Acting Minister of Defence, Pengiran Sanggamara Diraja Major General (Rtd) Pengiran Haji Ibnu Ba'asith bin Pengiran Datu Penghulu Pengiran Haji Apong who was the guest of honour. The guest of honour also presented the donations at the ceremony.

This year more than 1,400 Bruneians will be performing the haj, with the second group of pilgrims flying off today, followed by three more flights on January 11 till January 13.
