The connecting road from Kampong Lugu
to the Muara-Tutong highway has been closed temporarily owing to a
landslide, RTB reported yesterday.
Road users are therefore advised to
make use of the Kampong Lugu main road.
The closure of part of the road is
one of the steps taken by the authority for safety reasons.
On arrival at the scene, RTB found
that the road had already been blocked by the Public Works Department
in an effort to ensure the road is not used.
The closure is due to a landslide
affecting part of the road.
Worsening the situation is a two-metre
crack discovered along the road, which could possibly give way at
anytime.
The cause of the landslide is yet to
be determined.
However, a possible reason for such
occurrence is because the road is located along a hillside where soil
easily erodes due to climate changes.
Heavy rain for the past few days also
caused the soil to be moist.
Maintenance work is to be carried out
as soon as possible.
