Youth leadership seminar in Tutong
The youth in Brunei Darussalam are
urged to join the activities of their respective village associations
so as to steer themselves from negative elements in this era of
globalisation.
The reminder was included in the
working paper entitled "Youth's Movement as a Platform for Youth's
Excellence", which was tabled at a seminar on youth leadership,
reported RTB.
The Youth Leadership seminar was held
in the Tutong district yesterday morning.
The paper presented by Vice President
of the Tutong Youth Council Awang Haji Mohd Zain bin Tengah touched on
the youth's movement as a platform for the youth to create an
opportunity.
This, he said, was especially for
leaders of the youth associations to interact with leaders of the
community and country, in order to close the gap between the
generations.
According to the country's Population
Statistic 2000, there are more than 150 thousand youth, who are
between 15 and 40 years of age.
Ninety youths from various youth
associations and secondary schools in the Tutong district are
attending the seminar aimed at producing future youth leaders for
youth associations in the country.
To date, there are 17 active youth
associations affiliated with the Tutong Youth Council.
The Youth Leadership seminar will
continue this Sunday with more working papers including one on the
roles of non-governmental organisations in development.
