Hoteliers Enlisted In Drug Campaign In KB

Kuala Belait – Hoteliers in Belait and Tutong Districts were enlisted yesterday in the drug misuse campaign of the government on the heels of reports that drug-related cases were taking place in several hotels in Belait.

The cooperation of the hotel managers were asked in a meeting held yesterday between the officers of the narcotic Control Bureau (NCB) and the hoteliers of the two districts.

The meeting was a move towards the awareness and commitment of various levels of the community in handling the drug menace in Brunei.

at the Oil and Gas Discovery Centre in Seria.It aimed to instil understanding and introduction on the misuse of drugs.

In the meeting, the hotel managers were informed about the rules under the misuse of drug and other related drugs acts that every one should abide by.

The briefing given by the officer from the Narcotic Control Bureau (NCB) also served as a two-way cooperation between the government's law enforcement agencies and the private sectors.

Previously, there were reports of drug-related cases taking place at several hotels in the Belait District.

NCB reported that some hotels have become the venue of such illegal social activities to avoid the authorities’ knowledge.

Perhaps, NCB said, the cooperation given by the hotels' management had led to the crackdown of such activities.
