By Rosli Abidin Yahya
Welcoming the joint cooperation for a
telemovie project of production houses in Brunei Darussalam and
Malaysia was a Sabah minister, who regarded it as a catalyst towards
future ventures in unearthing the potential of both nations to make
first-class films.
Datuk
Karim Bujang, the Sabah assistant minister for Culture, Tourism and
Environment said that efforts by these two companies complemented the
works of both countries in promoting tourism as well as introducing
the language and lifestyle of their populations to the world.
Datuk
Karim spoke last January 4 at the launching and Doa Selamat ceremony
in Kota Kinabalu. At this event, a memorandum of cooperation was
signed by Brunei's Phab Production Executive Producer, Pg Hj Abu Bakar
Pg DP Hj Mohamad and Sabah's Jaawat Pelangi Executive Chairman, Encik
Onn Ariffin.
This MoC was a follow-up to another
that was signed by the two parties in Bandar Seri Begawan last
October.
The launch was also attended by a
member of Sabah's parliament, Senator Datuk Hjh Dk Mahani Tun Pg Hj
Ahmad Raffae; Special Affairs Director at the Malaysian Ministry of
Information, Datuk Seri Panglima Hasbollah Hj Taha; MAS Sabah Manager,
Encik Sobri; and Finas Sabah Director, Deddy M Borhan as well as
