Police Nab Phone Card Thief

Begawan - An alert cashier and swift action by police led to a
suspected phone card thief being nabbed after the local youth
allegedly robbed a grocery shop in Jln Muara.
The youth, in his 20s, reportedly
stole more than 100 pieces of phone cards and some cash from Sasha
Food grocery shop in Kg Sungai Tilong, Jalan Muara on January 3 and
jumped into a waiting car and sped away.

Berakas, DSP Yakub, who led the investigation, told the Bulletin they
received a complaint from the cashier of the shop at 11.30 that night.
According to the cashier’s report, he
saw the suspect coming into the shop and open up the drawer where all
the cards were kept. He quickly grabbed the cards and some cash and
got into a car and sped away, the report added.
The cashier tried to stop the man but
in vain. However, the cashier managed to jot down the registration
number of the suspect’s car and made a report at the Berakas Police
Station.
Police swung into action and on
January 6 DSP Yakub with help from Berakas District CID managed to
arrest the suspect. According to DSP Yakub all the stolen items were
discovered from the suspect.
The suspect has been brought to the
police station and is now under detention for further investigation.
