AIA offers new investment plan

Southeast Asia's largest life insurer, American International Assurance Company Limited (AIA), is now offering an investment plan that will guarantee you 100% of your capital, plus rewarding returns after just 10 years.

With only a one-time deposit at a minimum of US$5,000 (B$8,504), people can kick in with a fresh start this year with AIA US$ Wealth Accumulator - an investment plan that lets people accumulate high guaranteed returns.

Launched only 2 weeks ago, AIA's new product has already received good response with a premium of B$30,000, so far. This shows the launching of AIA US$ Wealth Accumulator is at a very "timely moment", said AIA General Manager, Sajan Raman.

At a brief meeting with the Bulletin yesterday, he explained it is "timely indeed, especially with US dollars weakened against other major currencies, thus it is cheaper now to invest in US dollars".

He did however, recommend that it is better to invest in US dollars for " a prudent or a careful investors would want to make an investment in US dollars is purely for diversification", he added.

People, however, do have a choice of whether to make this investment in Singapore dollars or US dollars.

More interestingly is, regardless of how volatile the market is, with AIA US$ Wealth Accumulator, people are protected against any falls in the market and will get back 100% of their capital in US$ terms, plus rewarding returns (compounded annually) after 10 years.

With AIA US$ Wealth Accumulator 3.96%, on top of earning a guaranteed return of 3.60% per annum, people can enjoy an additional guaranteed bonus return of 3.64% in the first year, giving an effective annual guaranteed return at maturity of 3.96%.
