welcomes new students

The Nakhoda Ragam Vocational School
held its orientation ceremony for its new intake yesterday morning at
the school's hall. From this year's 256 applicants, only 94 students
made the cut for the seven courses offered at the school.
In his speech, the principal of
Nakhoda Ragam Vocational School, Cikgu Haji Ashri Bin Haji Ahmad
expressed hope that the students would make good use of the
opportunity given by being committed and working hard to achieve the
best result.
He added that the country's
investment in technical and vocational education will get a return
through the student's effort and contribution in the future.
The guest of honour at the ceremony,
Awang Haji Mohd Daud Bin Haji Mahmud, the Acting Director of Technical
Education Department, also gave a speech. He stated that the main
function of technical education was to plan, manage and assess if the
technical and vocational education programmes had been carried out to
fulfil the socio-economic needs of Brunei.
He explained that Technical Education
Department had prepared one system of technical and vocational
programmes. At the same time, 95 courses are currently being managed
by seven technical and vocational institution.
After his speech, the guest of honour
officially launched the orientation ceremony for the new students. The
new students also recited the school's oaths led by the school's
prefect.
