5 Foreign Workers Held In Police Raid
By Azlan Jaini

Bandar Seri Begawan - A team of seven CID personnel from the Sengkurong Police Station conducted an inspection operation codenamed “OP Ugan 4”, Monday night.

Raids were carried out in 2 different locations and a total of 24 foreigners were inspected. In the raid the Police succeeded in detaining 5 foreigners after they each failed to produce proper valid identification documents.

The first inspection commenced at about 10 pm and was conducted in a housing area at Jln Ban 3, Kg Kilanas. 2 Filipinos where detained in that raid for failing to show up with proper documents.

Another offender was detained and taken to the Sengkurong police station for further questioning after having failed to answer the door as the Police personnel approached the owner’s premises.

It took about half an hour for the police to wait for the tenant of the house to respond to the police. When the police team eventually entered the house for inspection, the tenant came up with many excuses as to why he did not open and allow the police to enter.

A number of VCDs suspected to be pornographic as well as 4-digit lottery tickets were seize by the police in the second raid, which was carried out on a house in Kg Lampaki, Mulaut.

After considerable questioning and inspection at the tenants’ house, the inspection team found another two foreigners - a Filipino and an Indonesian - hiding in a storeroom.

They were all taken to the Sengkurong Police station for further investigation for failing to respond the police immediately.

The operation was led by the Jerudong Investigations and Traffic Officer. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
