The new lower secondary one students
Sayyidina
Hussain Secondary School yesterday welcomed approximately 300 new
students who registered for the lower secondary one level, marking the
first day of orientation.
The orientation commenced at 8.15 am,
with the principal of the school, Cikgu Hajah Rosni binti Hj Mohd Amin,
delivering her welcoming address to the new students as well as
parents and guardians who accompanied them. Firstly she congratulated
the new students for having passed the PSR exams. She also thanked the
parents and guardians, whose support had been a vital part of the
students' success.
The principal added that considering
last year's enrolment figure was 266 students, the marked increase in
students registering this year showed that the students have improved
academically.
In her speech, Cikgu Hjh Rosni
advised the students to learn to be independent in their approach to
their studies, to have patience and work hard as they will face
inevitable challenges especially as they are entering their adolescent
stage. She also called for the support of the parents and guardians in
respect to their children's academic matters, the school's special
programmes and enrichment programmes, disciplinary matters such as
punctuality and to spare their children from emotional disturbances
stemming from domestic disputes.
The orientation programme will run
for three days and includes lectures, counselling sessions with
respect to academic, religious and disciplinary matters, co-curricular
activities, familiarisation sessions and sports activities.
