More than 300 new Form 1 from the Sayyidina Abu Bakar Secondary School in Lambak Kanan started their registration and orientation programme yesterday afternoon at the school's hall.

The orientation programme allows the students to get to know one another and to introduce them to the various departments within the school. The orientation session focused primarily on familiarising students to the surrounding of the school.

The programme kick started with a briefing on the school's academic, co-curriculum, registration, discipline and counselling activities. Deputy principal of the school, Hajah Kamlah Binti Haji Daud also gave a welcoming address.

In her speech, she explained that the school's mission was to bring out the best in each student studying at Sayyidina Abu Bakar Secondary School and to nurture them to become well rounded individuals equipped with the requisite knowledge and skills and imbued with sound moral values in line with the concept of MIB. The school also hoped to instil good work ethics so the students remained useful members of society.

She advised the students to obey the school's rules and regulations and not to cut school as the attendance requirement for sitting any exam was 85 per cent. Anything lower than that will be disqualified from taking any exam.

She added that the school had strict passing grade with 50 per cent as the minimum passing mark.

Lastly she hoped that the new students would study hard for their future. The orientation also includes sport activities, reading of the school's oath and visits to the different department and facilities of the school.
