New students at MTSSR

Forty individuals had been accepted into Sultan Saiful Rijal Technical College (MTSSR) and were briefed by the college registrar yesterday morning during the registration ceremony at the school's Silver Jubilee Hall.

Out of the 39th intake's students, 12 will be undertaking a National Trade Certificate 3 in basic cookery, basic food and beverage service, 16 will be pursuing a BDTVEC Pre-National Diploma in science, eight will undertake a National Trade Certificate 3 in vehicle body engineering and 24 will be pursuing a Pre-National Diploma in aircraft engineering.

During the ceremony, registrar Cikgu Alias bin Haji Abu Bakar said the new students should feel fortunate, as it was a competition school to gain entry into.

He explained that the educational system at MTSSR was different from that of a secondary school because the college concentrated on the quality of training.

He disclosed that the students would receive $140 per month allowance, though lengthy procedure meant distribution could be postponed.

The students will undergo two-day orientation, commencing January 7 at 8.30am.

Also present at the ceremony were Deputy Principal of Education and Training Cikgu Norzainab binti Haji Ladi, Head of Mechanical Division Cikgu Hashim, as well as teachers from various departments in MTSSR.
