8 muallafs receive haj donations

Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam had consented a Kurnia Haj Fare to 8
muallafs in the country to perform their Haj this year.
They were Awang Mohd Hazwan Bin
Muhammad Yusof, Awang Muhammad Yusof Bin Abdullah, Awang Muhammad
Masut Bin Abdullah, Awang Muhd Redzuan Bin Muhd Yunos, Dayang Lateefah
Binti Abdullah, Dayang Norhafizah Binti Hj Muhd Bokhari, Dayang Siti
Mastura Binti Abdullah Labang and Dayang Nur Ailina Binti Muhammad
Za'im.
These muallafs were amongst the 27
Muslim converts in the country who had applied for the Kurnia Haj
Fare, stated the Islamic Religious Council Brunei (MUIB).
A financial assistance ceremony for
the muallafs was held yesterday morning at the Dahlia Room of the
Ministry of Religious Affairs Building in Jalan Menteri Besar. Present
to contribute the donation was Awang Haji Abdul Wahab Bin Haji Sapar,
the Acting Secretary of MUIB.
Awang
Haji Abdul Wahab stated that the Kurnia Fare amounting to $3,500 each
was awarded to the muallafs by His Majesty. This Kurnia Fare was also
awarded to all the government officers who had served with the Brunei
government for more than 15 years.
As for Kurnia Fare awarded to the
muallafs, he said that it is a Haj package amounting to $6500 which
includes $3,500 of Kurnia Fare consented by His Majesty and another
$3,000 contributed by the Islamic Religious Council Brunei (MUIB)
where the money was collected through Zakat.
The financial assistance given by
MUIB to the 8 muallafs is totalled at $32,000.
His Majesty also consented a
contribution of $1,000 for each of the converts. It is meant for their
personal expenses while performing Haj in Mecca and it was from MUIB
through Zakat.
