Free seminar on ‘Calak Brunei'

The Malay Islamic Monarch National
Executive Council will be organising a free seminar on 'Calak Brunei'.
It will be held from January 24-27, 2004 at the Chancellor Hall of
Universiti Brunei Darussalam.
The seminar will be organised by
Academy of Brunei Studies and carries the theme "Towards Upholding
National Dignity".
"Calak" refers to mould or 'Acuan'
which incorporates personality, image, identity, attitude or
orientation. The seminar aims to take a look at the role of education
in forming 'Calak Brunei', exchange ideas and experience among
experts, enhance awareness and to find a comparison and new approaches
in inculcating 'Calak Brunei'. A total of 15 papers will be presented.
A keynote speech will be delivered by
the Minister of Religious Affairs. Other papers will be presented by
scholars and lecturers of UBD. The seminar is targeting 500
participants comprising of senior government officials, education
officers, school administrators, teachers, leaders from Mukims,
villages, youths, non-governmental organisations and individuals.
For individuals, only 50 participants
are allocated and those who are pro-active will be selected. Those
