the Holy Land commencing January and the religious rite of wukuf at
Arafah on 10 Zulhijjah will be marked as another Islamic festivity for
Muslims throughout the world.
Named the Hari Raya Haji Or Aidil
Adha, Brunei Darussalam will be cetebrating the festivity either on
February 1 or 2.
As such the Masjid Kg Sungai Hanching
Takmir Committee is planning to hold Korban religious activity in
conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidil Adha and is currently requesting
able Muslims in the vicinity of the mosque to participate.
The secretary of the Takmir
committee, Hj Mohd Zaide bin Hj Damit said forms to participate in the
religious rite can be obtained from the chairman Pg Hj Mohammad
Hafizuddin Pg Hj Bakar, the Imam of Masjid Kg Sungai Hanching.
Interested Muslims must return the
forms back to either of them by January 25.
Hj
Mohd Zaide said the Korban ceremony would take place at the compound
of the Masjid Kg Sungai Hanching on February 2. It will be officiated
by the adviser of the Takmir Committee, Dato Paduka Hj Suyoi bin Hj
Osman, the deputy Minister of Education.
He said livestock such as goats, cows
and buffaloes will be slaughtered and distributed for consumption of
the relatives and friends of the Korban participants as well as
Muslims attending the ceremony.
He added the number of livestock to
be slaughtered would depend on the number of participants.
"A Muslim can offer either one goat
or sheep, or one seventh of a cow, buffalo or camel as korban which
means 7 people can agree to offer a cow, buffalo or camel at a time.
"Therefore the number of livestock
will depend on the demand of the participants," he said.
Able Muslims all over the world
perform the Korban rites as an act of worship on specific days, the
first, second, third and fourth days of Hari Raya Aidil Adha.
