Men Remanded For
Having 54 Forged Credit Cards

Begawan - Four Chinese men and a Chinese woman from Malaysia
were brought to the Magistrate’s Court yesterday to face a charge of
having in their possession 54 forged credit cards (Visa/ Mastercard).
The alleged mastermind, Lim Choon
Chye, Chan Chong Kian, 48, Sim Yan Moh, 37, Wong Yuet Ngor and Ngu
Chien Siew were arrested five days ago. All understood the charge but
none of their pleas’ were taken.
All of them allegedly having the said
forged bank notes on the December 31 last year inside a vehicle at
Sungai Tujoh Control Post in Kuala Belait.
Meanwhile, Lim Choon Chye, Chan Chong
Kian and Sim Yan Moh were also charged with conspiring by dishonestly
using a Visa (Mastercard) bearing the name of a Chinese man, as
genuine, knowing it to be forged.
The three of them had allegedly used
the forged credit cards on the December 26 last year at the UNITEK
shop, No 11, Yong Siong Hai building in Simpang 137 Jalan Gadong.
Further, they were also facing a
charge of conspiracy against one UNITEK salesperson by dishonestly
inducing him to deliver one unit of Acer Ferrari 3000 notebooks to
them, which was the property of the said shop.
The Deputy Public Prosecutor, Dk Hana
Molina said yesterday that the five defendants would be remanded
separately at different police stations for a week due to complete
investigations.
They are due to appear in the
courthouse on the January 10 at 2:30 pm for further mention.
