The Perbadanan TAIB marked its 12th
year of establishment at its annual dinner last night at the Goldstone
Ballroom, Centrepoint in Gadong.
The event was attended by more than
300 guests comprising officers and staff as well as board of
directors. Present as guest of honour was Pehin Dato Dr. Ustaz Haji
Awang Md. Zain, Minister of Religious Affairs.
Managing Director of Perbadanan TAIB,
Dato Paduka Haji Junaidi in his welcoming address said he was hopeful
that the New Year would bring a new resolution to the officers and
staff of TAIB and its subsidiary companies to continue putting in
efforts in the development of Perbadanan TAIB.
He said, "As we are all aware, the
economic activities in the past few years have weakened, not only in
Brunei but the world over.
"This inevitably has affected banking
and finance activities, especially in Brunei Darussalam.
"In that respect, Perbadanan TAIB is
facing a new challenge. This is evident in the year 2003 when the
bank's income has grown but the growth was moderate and did not meet
our expected goal.
"Therefore the management has
implemented cautious and prudent strategies. The slight decline in the
dividends as announced to our investors is among the strategies taken.
"Nevertheless the dividends are still
considered high when compared to other financial institutions.
"This development should be taken by
all officers and staff as a challenge not as an obstacle. It is hoped
that all officers and staff of Perbadanan TAIB will continue to
improve their quality of work to overcome the challenges and
subsequently take Perbadanan TAIB to its primary level of
performance."
The evening saw the presentation of
souvenirs to officers and staff who have served the bank and its
subsidiary companies for five and ten years. It was followed by the
presentation of prizes to the bank's outstanding supervisors and
staff.
