Wooden house falling apart
By James Kon & Huraizah Ahmad

Wooden house that Rashidah bte Abdullah Shim currently resides.
The wooden house situated in Jalan
Delima Satu, Kg Pancha Delima Dua, is slowly deteriorating.
Owned by Rashidah bte Abdullah Shim
since the year 2000, the house was given by the Yayasan Foundation to
Muslim converts.
She told the Bulletin that a year
after she moved in, the house started to fall apart.
She had tried to seek assistance from
several relevant authorities, but her cry for help fell on deaf ear,
she said.
Visible from the outside, damages
included broken sewage pipes, broken stairs and infested woods.
The tenant, who no longer stays at
the place, said one could actually feel the house shake or tilt
whenever someone entered.
There was strong evidence (cracks on
the walls) that the foundation of the house was not stable and was no
longer safe to reside in, she said.
She believed the poor state of the
house was mainly due to irresponsible contractors who tried and cut
cost by using cheap building materials.
She urged relevant authorities to
attend to her dire situation as soon as possible.
