Children getting the feel of a classroom.
Chung Hwa Middle School yesterday
held meetings with parents and pupils of Nursery Class, KG1, KG2 and
KG3.
Parents and their children were able
to meet with the teachers to talk about the education and familiarise
themselves with the surroundings. The day also served to enhance the
teachers-parents relationship.
More importantly, some of the
children especially those in the nursery classes were able to step
into a classroom for the first time to get a first- hand feel of going
to school.
This year Chung Hwa Middle School
recorded a high of more than 880 students in its nursery and
kindergarten classes.
Almost 45% of the total are newly
registered students, the Head of Kindergarten Department, Misses Sun
Nuo said. She added that the increase in intake showed the support of
parents and the public towards Chung Hwa Middle School.
As of yesterday, this year's new
intake consists of 141 non-Chinese students - children from other
races - with Malays making up the largest percentage of the new
students
In an interview, a Malay couple who
had registered their child yesterday explained that they wanted their
child to learn another language - Mandarin - for the child's future
benefit and that the school is conveniently located near their home
and their workplace.
