To more than a few people in the
country, especially the youth, the eve of the New Year on the
Gregorian calendar is the most anticipated and celebrated event.
Just a few hours before the New Year
2004 countdown, the celebration began with a Grand Final of Golden
Voice 2003 contest at the JPCC Royal Berkshire, Wednesday evening.
Jointly organised by FCF
Entertainment & Zikrayat Event Management, the B$30 ticketed fete was
fully attended by family and friends and was filled with a sense of
camaraderie between contestants and audiences as they awaited the
clock to tick away for the new year.
Twelve finalists made their debut as
they put their best singing performances before opening a new chapter
coming into the year 2004.
Aside from being held to celebrate
the new year, the event also provided a chance for the contestants -
comprising entirely youths and teenagers - to display their talents,
stated a Zikrayat EM spokesperson, adding that it was also hoped that
it will motivate talented individuals to sharpen their abilities.
The contest was won by Dk Siti Zaleha
Pg MD Yassin, while second place went to Dk Siti Sabariah Pg Hj Idris
while Siti Noriana Hj Munap won the third prize.
Before the judges finalised their
winners, the audiences were kept entertained by performances from FCF
Dancers and some invited singers.
