Routine roadblocks were held from
Wednesday night till Thursday morning during the New Year's Eve
celebrations. The roadblocks were held at strategic areas in the
Brunei-Muara district including the Muara-Tutong Highway, Kampong
Limau Manis Control Post and Jalan Jerudong.
Operations started at about 9 pm and
ended at 4 am. The operations were held by the enforcement officers
from the Police Force Unit, Halal Haram Enforcement Unit and the Land
Transport Unit. The roadblocks were held to ensure that public safety
was maintained at all times during the New Year's Eve revelry.
As a result of the roadblock,
enforcement officers managed to detect several offences including
modified vehicles, driving without a driving licence and foreigners
driving without proper driving documents that are recognised by the
Brunei Government.
Offenders were taken to the police
station for further investigation.
The roadblocks are a routine check
conducted by enforcement officers and they will continue in the
future.
The public was reminded to the rules
and regulations of the Road Traffic Act at all times to ensure that
there would be no unwanted incidents.
