The capital came to a standstill
yesterday morning after two fire engines, a rescue vehicle and an
ambulance suddenly appeared near the Brunei Shell Marketing (BSM) and
IBB building.
The people's curiosity was heightened
when smoke appeared on the seventh floor of the BSM building and staff
evacuated from the premises and walked to an assembly point at the
nearby Taman Hj Sir Muda Omar Ali Saifuddien.
It was actually a fire drill to test
the response time and evacuation of staff of BSM as well as to test
the firemen.
Said the PRO of the Fire Services,
Othman Jailani, "the staff must evacuate the building in three to five
minutes. If it's more than that, then the fire is considered a major
fire incident".
