Fireman Gets Jail, Whipping For Illegal Explosives

Bandar Seri Begawan – The Brunei High Court yesterday sentenced a Bruneian to five years jail and three strokes for possessing explosive substances without licence in contravention of Rule 11 of the Arms and Explosives Act.

Mohd Sepiee Bin Sipen, 24, is a fireman at the Seria Fire Station.

During a fire fighting operation at the Anduki/Lumut Seria bypass, he brought along two home- made explosive devices, one of which exploded and injured his right hand.

In the course of police investigation, he admitted to making both explosives at his house at the Seria Fire Station Barracks.  -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
