Feeling short-changed on tyres
By Rosli Abidin Yahya & Hj Md

A local man expressed his concern
yesterday on a shop's "unethical business practice" by displaying
products not stocked in the shop. He said such a practice must be
stopped to protect the consumers as well as to support the growth and
development of the business sector.
He alleged that a tyre shop had been
displaying tyres which it did not stock. "I was looking for new set of
tyres for my vehicles and went to a local tyre establishment in a
commercial area in the capital. When I pointed to a displayed tyre,
the shop assistants proceeded to take off all four rims of my cars and
dislodged my old tyres.
"Then they fitted the displayed tyre
onto one of the rims and told me to wait for the other three as they
had to go to their store room miles away," he said. "The shop could
have told me earlier that I need to wait instead of dismantling my old
tyres earlier, so I had to wait."
He added that he was made to wait for
several hours and at last a man came with three more tyres and an
invoice to the shop. He alleged the shop did not get the tyres from
their store but ordered them from another establishment.
"I asked them to reinstall my old
tyres because I know I can get it cheaper from the shop it ordered.
This is an unethical business practice in order to make profit," he
said.
