Car Thief Found Guilty
By Malai FadleyRizal

Bandar Seri Begawan - After a long trial, the case of a car theft finally came to a conclusion when the 36-year-old man was found guilty to two charges of car theft and was sentenced to a concurrent term of 18 months jail.

The prosecuting officer, Syed Azmal Syed Ali successfully proved the case beyond 'reasonable doubt' by bringing in 9 witnesses, three of whom were sentenced earlier as Hamzah Hj Md Noor's partners in crime.

It was revealed through the statement of facts that at around midnight on August 25, 2002, Hamzah and his three accomplices walked from BSB to Menglait planning to steal cars.

They arrived at their first target at Automax Company Workshop in Menglait where Hamzah successfully opened the door of a car registered BK 755 and drove off going around Gadong and ended up in Kg Bunut where they left the car for unknown purposes.

Later that morning, again Hamzah managed to open a car bearing the registration BH 3725 at the parking lot of Lim Kum Mui Building in Jalan Tutong in which the four of them got in and left the car again at Batu 1, Jalan Tutong.

Yesterday, Hamzah begged the Senior Magistrate to give him another chance to go for another trial but was rejected due to the fact that he had been given a chance earlier to bring in all of his possible witnesses and prove himself innocent.
