Awang Damit ... Co-curriculum helps students to become good
citizens.
An awards ceremony for the
victorious student athletes for year 2001-2002 was held at the
Multi Purpose Hall at the Maktab Sains Paduka Seri Begawan
Sultan yesterday morning. And the plum spots went to Mohd. Hazmi
Raifuddin bin Abd. Rahman of Lower Sixth Form 1A as best male
athlete for the college while the top female athlete was Dyg.
Jauharatud Diyana binte Suhaimi of Upper Sixth Form 2E.
The ceremony was led with a
speech by the Deputy Principal of Science College, Pg Rosnani
bte Pg Hj Jaludin. Present as guest of honour was the Deputy
Director of Co-Curriculum Education Department of the Ministry
of Education, Haji Awang Damit bin Ibrahim.
Haji Awang Damit stated that
the activities organised by the Co-curriculum are one of the
most effective methods to ensure the growth of physical, mental,
and social well-being of any student. Co-curriculum activities
help students to interact and increases their independence, hard
work and discipline to become good citizens. He added that
students including teachers should be motivated to join
co-curriculum activities held by schools.
In his speech he stressed that
students should register themselves for the sports activities
held by schools of Asean, which include the Asean Schools Sports
Council, Asian Schools Sports Federation and Asian Schools
Football Federation.
In the awards ceremony,
certificates were handed out to the heads and assistants of the
houses for 2001-2002. Prizes were also given to students who
achieved the best results in Physical Activities subjects, and
the best student athletes for year 2001-2002 for male and female
athletes were announced.
