Employer Charged For Hiring Filipino Woman

Bandar Seri Begawan - Senior Magistrate Radin Safiee Radin Mas Basiuni yesterday fined the manager of VentureMax Corporation Sdn Bhd $1,000 or two months jail in default when he pleaded guilty to employing a visitor.

Hj Awg Abd Munir Hj Awg Md Taib admitted engaging Elsa A Mendoza as an accounts clerk at the company located at Kg Kiulap while the 24-year-old Filipino was on a social visit pass.

Elsa A. Mendoza was brought to the Immigrations Department when enforcement officers' doubted her Immigrations status while conducting an inspection at the company's premises on September 28 last year.

Investigations revealed that she worked with the company as an accounts clerk since July 10, 2002 while on a social visit pass.
