End Of Road For Thai Pimp At Pusing Lagi

Bandar Seri Begawan - There was nowhere to go for a Thai female pimp but to prison after she pleaded guilty to living on the earnings of two prostitutes whom she picked up near Jerudong Park Pusing Lagi roller coaster ride.

The 32-year-old woman, Ratiros Sathan was sentenced to two months jail for that offence by Chief Magistrate Dk Rostaina Pg Hj Duraman at the Magistrate's Court yesterday.

At the hearing last Monday, the court released her on $5,000 bail or two sureties when she pleaded not guilty to the charge. However, she failed to find any sureties or raise bail, and she was remanded at the Jerudong Prison.

And yesterday, she changed her plea to guilty, saving the court time from going trial where the prosecution would have been calling in five to six witnesses. She had one witness for her defence.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Ak Khairol Nizam said that she arrived in the country sometime in August two years ago and stayed with her sister for two months after which she lived at the Jerudong Park Playground apartment.

The defendant was then arrested on January 24 this year together with another person in a car at Jerudong Park near 'Pusing Lagi' ride.

Upon investigations by the Police, she admitted that, that night she had picked up the two prostitutes from the playground apartment and sent them to meet clients for prostitution.

Further investigations also revealed that the defendant introduced these clients to them. In doing so, she charged them a commission of $10 each and further admitted that she had sent one prostitute three times to meet clients.
