A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
was signed by three main sponsors, which were Brunei Shell
Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP), HSBC and TotalFinaElf between
Brunei Museums Department yesterday to produce an Information
Resource CD for Brunei Museums Department.
The signing ceremony at the
Brunei Arts and Handicraft Centre was in support of the
historical activities of Brunei Darussalam, with TotalFinaElf
sponsoring $10,000 while BSP and HSBC each sponsored $5,000.
The MOU was signed the Director
of Brunei Museums, by Awang Matassim bin Haji Ibah, the Managing
Director of TotalFinaElf Mr Pierre Desvoyes, Manager of Human
Resource and Planning of HSBC Dk Fatimah bte Pg Mohd Jadid and
the External Affairs Adviser of BSP, Pg Hj Hassan bin Pg Zahari.
The Information Resource CD, is
an interactive CD aims to capture historical and important
development information of the Brunei Museums Department. This
will enable Brunei Museums to disseminate Brunei's historical
information on a wider scale to the public locally and
internationally by taking advantage of the rapid development of
information technology.
The CD will be a helpful
resource tool for teachers, researchers, academician as well as
the general public as a source of reference and information to
learn Brunei's history in a more interactive manner. The content
will include the profile of museums, buildings, galleries,
services and publications which will explain further the roles
and activities of the Brunei Museums Department.
For instance, the services
section of the CD will describe the current services provided by
Brunei Museum such as archives and library, educational tour,
lecture/talk, organization of events and exhibitions,
conservation services and museum shop.
The 'publication section' will
describe the Museums' publishing activities such as books,
international journals on new historical findings and past
newsletters. The CD will also provide information on the current
eight buildings and their collection, which include Brunei
Museum, Malay Technology Museum, Royal Regalia Building, Art
Gallery, Bumbongan Dua Belas, Merimbun Heritage Park, National
Archive of Brunei Darussalam and Brunei Arts and Handicraft
Center.
The collection and gallery of
the Brunei Museums will also be featured in this CD, for example
the Oil and Gas Gallery (Brunei Shell Gallery), Royal Regalia's
Gallery, Art Gallery, Ethnography and History Gallery, Malay
Technology Gallery, Brunei Shipwreck Gallery and Environmental
Gallery like Tasek Merimbun.
The launch of the Information
Resource CD would be held on February 8, 2003.
