The monthly Bahana forum is meant
to find the weaknesses of literary writers so they could learn
from such drawbacks to spur them into producing quality creative
writings.
The acting deputy director of
Language and Literature Bureau (DBP), Hj Abu Bakar bin Hj Zainal
said criticisms and analysis must be accepted by literary
writers to motivate them into producing serious and careful
works.
He said DBP has a fitting role
to elevate language and literature into its rightful place and
to elevate quality writers for the regional awards such as
SEAWrite Award and MASTERA Prize. Hj Abu Bakar delivered his
address prior to the 4th session of Bahana Forum at the Dewan
Sarmayuda, DBP yesterday morning.
Dr Hj Morsidi bin Hj Muhamad, a
University Brunei Darussalam's senior lecturer, Chong Ah Fok, a
Malay Department Head of St Andrews School and Faridah bte Hj
Abd Hamid, a literature teacher at the PAP Hjh Masna Secondary
School at Lambak Kanan gave their views.
Mas Osman chaired the forum
Towards Elevating the Quality of local Short Stories.
Dr Hj Morsidi said literature
are beautiful writing products by talented writers. Literature
has always commanded a high standing amongst other branches of
arts.
