Two Prostitutes Jailed But Woman Denies Being Pimp

Bandar Seri Begawan - Two Thai prostitutes were sentenced to three months in jail, while the alleged female pimp was released on $5,000 court bail yesterday.

Nada Poolsara and Wantana Klinjan, both aged 28, have to serve the custodial sentence after both failed to pay the $1,500 fine imposed by Senior Magistrate Hj Abdullah Soefri DSP Hj Abidin.

However, in the hearing at the Magistrate's Court yesterday, the alleged pimp, Ratiros Sathan, 32, pleaded not guilty to the charge of living in part on the earnings of the prostitutes.

She will be calling one witness for her defence, while the police prosecutor will be bringing in 5 to 6 witnesses.

The court heard that both of the prostitutes were arrested by a team of CID personnel from the PHQ Anti Vice Unit Gadong during a raid on two rooms in Jalan Jerudong four days ago.
