Interested parties from Brunei
Darussalam are invited to attend the 2nd Sarawak Air
Recreational Day, which is scheduled to be held at the general
aviation hangar of Miri airport from March 28 - 30.
In a statement, the organisers
said the star attraction for the event would be Malaysian-made
light aircraft, Eagle 150B.
They said the display is meant
to show Malaysia's technological capability in the aircraft
manufacturing industry.
The air show is jointly
organised by Sarawak Youth and Sport Department with the Sarawak
Flying Club. The event is expected to attract the participation
of several flying clubs from Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and
Pontianak and a paragliding team from Australia.
The show was inaugurated last
year when it was held in Kuching. Organisers will be alternating
the annual event amongst the major towns of Sarawak as an effort
to promote general aviation among the people.
The show would be similar to
other air shows, with formation flying displays as well as
helicopter joyrides at nominal fee for the public.
The long-term objective of the
show was part of the Sarawak Flying Club's long-term plan to
promote general aviation, especially among youths, the statement
added.
