Skipper Hj Syarmayuda receives his "Pilot Scout Wing"
from Skipper Abdul Jalil.
A course on 'Basic Information'
for members of the Air Scout movement was recently conducted at
the conference hall of the Duli Pengiran Al Muhtadee Billah
College in Gadong.
The course, which educates
scout leaders on leadership, is an introductory course, which
touches on the management of scouting affairs - particularly air
scouting.
Local professional scout
trainers along with four officers from the Royal Brunei Air
Force (RBAF) were involved in conducting the course. A total of
45 leaders participated.
In his closing remarks, Skipper
Abdul Jalil Dato Paduka Hj Awg Marsal, pledged to follow up with
more courses and training sessions for the leaders and to patrol
leaders of air scout movement, to qualify them to be a
dedicated, honest, trustworthy and authoritative leader.
At the closing ceremony,
Skipper Abd Jalil, was awarded with the highest-ranking badge
for scout leaders, the "Gilwell Wood Badge" from the
International Leader Trainer cum Secretary General of the
movement, Awg. Hj. Hassan Hj Timbang.
Skipper Abd Jalil successfully
completed the Leadership Course IV A, Unit PKK 2001 in Kota
Kinabalu.
Meanwhile, Skipper Hj
Syarmayuda Dato Paduka Hj Muhammad, a Private Pilot Licence (PPL)
holder since 1998, received his "Pilot Scout Wing"
from Skipper Abd Jalil.
Skipper Hj Syarmayuda flew solo
in a Cessna 172 aircraft from Los Angeles to Florida and is
currently working for Royal Brunei Airlines as Ground Engineer.
A jointly organised camp with
RBAF and the scout movement will be held at Pantai Seri Kenangan,
Tutong from February 1-2, 2003. The camp aims to foster goodwill
and closer relationship amongst air scout members and RBAF
personnel.
