Walking into Sheraton Utama
Hotel, you will see a man restoring a favourite art piece in the
lobby entitled, 'Mist in the Morning in Kampong Ayer'. The
painting was commissioned to the artist by the first General
Manager of Sheraton Utama, Mr Kevin Carton, for its grand
opening many years ago.
The 57-year-old artist and
painter behind the hotel's signature painting is no stranger to
the Sultanate. Mr Steve Mitchell, who was flown in from Spain
where he is currently based to restore the art piece to its
glorious original state, first came to the Sultanate as a
teacher at the 6th Form Centre in 1976. He left for Spain in
1987.
