IDBB Managing Director delivers her speech.

The guest of honour with the Minister of Culture, Youth and
Sports at the dinner.
After a change from
conventional banking to Islamic banking system for 2 years,
Islamic Development Bank of Brunei Berhad (IDBB) has shown
encouraging growth and development yielded from the determined
efforts and hard work and the close ties with customers through
its products and strategic and efficient services.
This was noted by the guest of
honour at the bank's annual dinner held at the Jerudong Polo
& Country Club, Pehin Dato Seri Laila Jasa Haji Awg Ahmad
Wally Skinner, Deputy Minister of Finance and IDBB Chairman.
He further noted that the
mixture of cooperation practised is the important key to the
bank's success and capability in offering products and services
based on 'Syariah'.
With the economy of the country
in the process of recovery, the efforts and initiative made by
the government to move activities and economic development must
be noted seriously and must not be ignored.
IDBB Managing Director, Pg
Datin Paduka Hjh Urai Pg Ali, meanwhile stated that in its
effort to overcome finance instability in the country, the bank
had last year launched a guideline for specific targets and is
now in the process of getting the "Standard of Best
Practice" ready.
This standard, she continued,
will be the foundation of policy provider and direction which
could give inspiration to the direction and IDBB's future
initiative.
With concentration on the
systematic aspects and "Standard of Best Practice", it
will help upgrade confidence level towards IDBB finance system
and stabilise IDBB image in and outside the country, which will
automatically help to attract foreign investors to the
Sultanate.
With this regards, IDBB had
successfully and will continue to play an important role as the
only Islamic Development Bank in the country that has the
competitiveness and international standard with a commitment not
only to the county's economy but also to make it as a centre of
international finance and well respected in the region.
Those present at the dinner
were entertained by performances of local artistes as well as a
lucky draw. A photo session of the Board of Members and staff of
IDBB concluded the grand annual dinner.
Also present was the Minister
of Culture, Youth and Sports as well as permanent secretaries
and senior government officials.
