The needy, especially single
mums are top priority for when it comes to aid by relevant
authorities in the country. They must be given opportunities to
earn an income because this is the best way for them to survive
like everybody else.
In a move to help the poor in
the country who do not have permanent homes, the Brunei Islamic
Religious Council for the first time gave assistance in building
a low cost house for them.
The money to build the house
came from the "Kumpulan Wang Zakat" fund of the
Islamic Religious Council Brunei.
Last year, the Council gave
assistance to four needy people (Fakir Miskin) to build their
own home. They were single mothers, DK. Abnah @ DK Amnah bte Pg
Bakar, Dayang Hasnah bte Abdullah, Dayang Noraini bte Rabaha and
Dayang Mastura bte Abang. All of them do not have permanent
homes and had earlier rented a house with financial aid from the
council.
The Council came up with two
types of low cost housing scheme - the Single Storey (costing
more than $48,000) and the Bungalow (costing $40,700) with a
floor area of 1034 sq feet and 1018 sq feet, respectively.
The construction of Dk. Abnah's
house is now complete and the 46-year-old single mother will
soon move to her new dream home. The bungalow house is located
at Lot B, Simpang 614-64, Kampung Salambigar, Muara.
