More Brunei Youths Getting Exposed
To Obscene Material Warns Official

Brunei youths are increasingly exposed to improper thoughts and
obscene materials from the Internet Pengiran Dato Haji Mohd Yussof
Permanent Secretary at the Religious Affairs Ministry warned.
He said that today's Muslim community
faced many diverse challenges from globalisation and the Information
and Communication Technology (ICT) revolution.
"These challenges indirectly
affect our faith as Muslims," he added.
He made the remarks at the closing
ceremony for arranging meeting schedules and programmes for the youths
from mosques, suraus and religious halls in the Tutong District.
He said globalisation and the
development of ICT have resulted in social problems and crime amongst
the youth.
The Permanent Secretary advised in
order to avoid from getting involved in negative behaviour, it was
important for them to equip themselves with Islamic knowledge and
teaching so as to become a good person worthwhile to the community,
religion and the nation.
He also presented prizes and
certificates to the participants of the programme.
A total of 80 youths aged between 12
and 20 from the Tutong District participated in the programme, which
took place at Kampong Panabai Mosque in Kuala Tutong.
The programme was organised by the
Mosque Affairs Department of the Tutong District.
