It is going to be a great year
ahead for residents of the old folks home in Seria.
The vice president of the Kuala
Belait Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Loo Soon Nin recently
presented "ang pows" or red packets to 11 elderly
members of the old folks home, which included the oldest tenant,
a 94-year-old woman, and two disabled homeless.
Loo, who is also the Rotary
Club's community service director, together with the club's
president, Toh Fui Ming had earlier contributed ang pows and
mandarins to the elderly, in line with the Chinese festivity.
Fifty members from the Chinese
Chamber of Commerce and Youth Sub-Committee in BSB took a bus
trip to Seria yesterday to visit the old folks home, where
donations were made by the head of the Youth Sub-Committee, Lim
Ting Guan, including ang pows and foods.
The Kwang Hui Sau Chinese
Association yesterday made similar contributions to the
residents.
There is a sufficient supply of
food for the residents, as we receive a constant flow of
contributions from associations, businessmen and kind
individuals, said a caretaker.
Seria's old folks home is
currently maintained by two caretakers.
