Headmasters and principals should not be the only ones taking the fall when students get entangled in disciplinary problems.

This was among the many issues voiced yesterday by teachers and principals at the 3rd meeting with the Penghulu and village heads in Mukim Berakas 'B.' The meeting took place at the Sultan Sharif Ali Secondary School in Jalan Muara.

And they believed that the responsibility of inculcating good discipline and morals are that of parents as well.

One teacher complained that certain students have the habit of coming late to school. They would normally miss the morning activities like the school assembly.

Therefore, these students would not know the latest information on the school's progress and not participate in the patriotic act of singing the national anthem.

Such problems could be solved effectively if parents forged close relationships with respective schools.

Earlier, the principal of Sultan Sharif Ali on behalf of other teachers at the meeting, hoped that the meeting would further help contribute towards the development and success of students.

Meanwhile, Dyg Hjh Zaliha Hj Dollah said that they should take the same responsibilities toward dealing with the social issues among students from the Mukims Berakas 'B.'

She offered that should the Penghulu and village heads need any assistance, they are welcome to meet and discuss the matter with the school authorities.

In his speech, the Director of Schools, Ministry of Education hoped that the meeting would become the starting point to produce model students.

He added that among the matters to be seriously looked into is the formation of a school committee for the community.

His brief speech was read by representative Awg Hj Mohd Hussein Yusof.

The meeting was co-chaired by Penghulu Mukim Berakas "B" Awg Haji Ismail Apong and Principal of Sultan Sharif Ali Secondary School Dyg Hjh Zaliha. There are 25 schools in Mukim Berakas "B".
