Royal greetings to Australia Day, Republic Day of India


His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has sent yesterday congratulatory messages to Dr Peter Hollingworth, Governor-General of Australia, and John Howard, Prime Minister of Australia, in conjunction with Australia Day.

His Majesty has expressed his satisfaction with the warm and friendly relations and deep understanding that had so far been established between Brunei Darussalam and Australia.

His Majesty also sent his congratulatory messages to A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, President, Republic of India, and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Prime Minister of the Republic of India, on the occasion of its 54th Republic Day celebration yesterday.

His Majesty has expressed his satisfaction with the warm and friendly relations and deep understanding that had so far been established between Brunei Darussalam and The Republic of India.

Meanwhile, His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, sent a similar congratulatory message to Alexander Downer, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Australia on Australia Day. "I much appreciate the personal friendship and understanding we have established over the last few years, especially during our co-chairmanship of the Asean-Australia Dialogue. I look forward to continuing to strengthen the close ties between our countries, both bilaterally and as regional partners," Prince Mohamed said.

Prince Mohamed also sent his warmest congratulations to Yashwant Sinha, Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India, and to the government and people of India on India's Republic Day.

"I am pleased with the way in which our bilateral relations and cooperation have been progressing over the years. I look forward to working with you to continue strengthening these excellent relations," Prince Mohamed said.
