Brunei Awards Two Oil Blocks To Leading Companies

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Brunei National Petroleum Company, Petroleum Brunei is in negotiations with two consortia on the production sharing contracts for two deepwater blocks within the Brunei's Exclusive Economic Zone.

The negotiations are progressing very well and official signing has been planned within the first quarter of this year.

The negotiations followed the announcement of the award of the two deepwater blocks known as Block J and Block K to TotalFinaElf, Emerada, HCSS BHP Bileton and to Shell Conoco Mitsubishi Corporation.

The decision of His Majesty Sultan of Brunei in counsel to award the three blocks as designated areas was published in the Brunei Darussalam Gazette on June 27, 2002.
