Work Smart And Be Civil Customs Officials Told

Bandar Seri Begawan - Customs officers and staff should be well disciplined and civil in carrying out their daily duties Finance Ministry Permanent Secretary Dato Haji Maidin at the World Customs Day celebration yesterday.

Such qualities should be practised to avoid complaints and criticism and to uphold the good image of the Royal Customs and Excise Department as a government agency.

Dato Haji Maidin said in the ever-changing world of Info-communication Technology, Customs authorities should always make changes to enable their officers to work with speed and efficiency.

The World Customs Day provides an opportunity for the Royal Customs and Excise Department to recognise and reward to the good work of its officers.

The Counter Award category was given to the Kuala Belait Customs.

Awang Haji Hasnan won the Exemplary Officers Award while Awang Jalani was the winner of the Best Supporting Staff Award.

The function coincided with the presentation of souvenirs to five retired Customs officers.

Brunei became the 140th member of the World Customs Organisation in July 1, 1996.
