Daring Robbery Attempt Foiled In
Gadong
By Rosli Abidin Yahya
Bandar Seri
Begawan - A failed robbery attempt in Gadong last Friday night
caused security guards of a hotel nearby scrambling to the scene only
to discover the assailant had managed to escape.
The owner of a company was hurt in
the process as the assailant hit him with a piece of wood on the
shoulder.
The man was on his way to his office
at about 10.30 pm carrying a briefcase with money, which was for his
workers salaries the next day.
However, a well-built person of
around 5 feet followed him from behind on his way up the stairs of his
second floor office.
He did not suspect anything but the
assailant hit him from the back with a piece of wood.
The victim let go his briefcase and
was scurrying downstairs to seek help.
Meanwhile, a restaurant waitress
passing by saw the commotion as she looked up the stairs.
She alerted security guards of a
hotel nearby who came running to the victim's aid.
The six security guards, armed with
batons and torchlights, shut off the electric power of the building
and went up the stairs to search for the assailant and the briefcase.
The security guards found the
briefcase but the assailant had managed to slip away.
They even checked every room to see
if the assailant was hiding in any one of them.
However, they could not locate the
assailant whom they presumed managed to escape through a back alley. (Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin)
